On Sunday I finally asked Sarah to marry me. She said yes! WooHoo!
I’ll have to get a piccy of the ring to put up here. For those of you who are impatient: It is a square diamond, with an Art-Deco style setting.
Update: Here is the ring

Well, America has spoken.
They have elected a terrorist with middle eastern connections.. Or as he is affectionally known here as the Little Shrub. (For those without a sence of humour: George Dublya Bush)
Nice to see the American are just as intelligent in their voting patterns as we Australians. It will be interesting how the Brits vote: It looks like Mr Blair has a challenge on his hands
To use that old quote: “The voters have spoken.. the bastards”
I love her smile.
I love her sence of humour.
I love how she’ll sit through a silly movie just because I want to see it.
I love how she wants to make me feel good. I love to make her feel good.
I love how she calls the barina “Betty”.
I love how she is a devoted mother.
and that’s just for starters.. I love her sooooo much!
I hate it when I stuff up.
I hate it when I hurt Sarah when I stuff up.
I hate it when I can’t be there for her.
I hate it when I can’t fix it. I hate it when I can’t give Sarah a big hug.
I hate the distance between us.
I hate it that I don’t have enough resources to bring her down here.
I hate it that if I do bring her down here, I’ll be taking her away from Ana.
I hate it when I can’t make her hot chocolate fugde sundaes.
Arrrrrrrg
I miss her sooooo much
Oh well, Australia has voted the Howard Government back in for another three years. The politics of fear certanly work here (people tent to vote for the “devil they know” when scared by higher morgages/terrorism/the boogie man).
We did have a chance to rid ourselves of the right-wing little munchkin, but alas, not this time. I think the alternate (the Labour Party) ended up too far to the right themselves on a number of issues, and started to look too much like the Liberals.
My fear is that President Bush will gain a bit of milage from it.. Especially after what I read this morning: minor presidential candidates arested.. Land of the free? Bah! I’m just glad I don’t live in The Amerian Police State (formally known as the USA)
Well, I’m sitting in the QANTAS club writing this, just about to get on the plane..
Last night was a blast.. but I could easily see how you could get written-off very quickly (bottomless glass of red wine that the waitress refills for you).
I’ve done something silly: In my haste to pack this morning, I forgot to get Sarah a T-Shirt of mine… Bugger
I?ve got 28 hours before I see Sarah again. This time I might actually ring mum 😐
I?m going to the SGT/CPL dining in night tonight.. Should be interesting.. I haven?t been to a proper dining in night for ages.
Well, that took a lot longer than it had to be. At least the web server is back up and running.
I still have to get the mail system working again, but I’m going to Brisbane tomorrow for a couple of days to see Sarah.
At about 1600 local this site will be down for a hardware upgrade. Hopefully it will not take long..
After being told nearly two weeks ago that it would cost the earth to a) cancell my ticket from Darwin to Adelaide and b) rebook a flight from Darwin to Brisbane to Adelaide after my deployment, I find out today that they didn’t book the original ticket until today.
So it wouldn’t have been all that expensive (I would have had to pay the Brisbane to Adelaide leg, and not 3 legs worth).
NOT IMPRESSED!
Update:
I’ve spoken to the boss, and it would appear that my previous ranting was a little pre-mature. We were booked under a different booking number as “waitlisted” and the new one was “confirmed”. Sarah probably knows the exact difference.
The boss still couldn’t explain the difference in booking numbers.
Well, the Internet connection died again yesturday sometime. It looks like about every 21 days it decides to not work.
The packets seem to leave the premsis, but don’t go anywhere after that. I could be wrong, as it might be the ethernet controller in the gateway machine (it takes a full power down and reboot to bring the link back to full operation).
It doesn’t help when I always seem to be interstate when it happens. It took me nearly an hour with Simon on the other end of the phone to fix it.
WooHoo!
Sarah’s coming to visit mid-September! It will give me about two weeks to spit-polish the house after I get back from Darwin.
I have to clean the carpets, Kitty, Roggie, and Simon. As well as the usual tidy up. It’ll be close 🙂
Well, I haven’t been able to think straight tonight at work. Sarah told me about…well never you mind about what, but it has been HARD to concentrate.
At least I can go home now, and VENT some frustration 🙂
It’s only been 36 hours (or there about) since I was in Brisbane, but I do miss her.
It took a while for him to get back. Faye bought him home, but nobody was here to look after him, so she took him home. And promptly lost him in her room. Once she found him, and bought him back here, he went straight to Roggie. (Roggie was REALLY lonely).
