The Soup Diet

Last thursday when I weighed myself I was 86kg, so I’ve decided to start on the Soup Diet (from the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital Cardiac unit). Unfortunately it is a no bread, no alcohol, no softdrinks nor fried food (or oil) type diet. The good news, it is only for seven days (although you can repeat it ad infiniteum).

I’ll update you on what each day entails, and If I lose any weight.

The soup is as follows:

  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 2 large cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1-2 large cans Campbells Beef Consomme’ plus two cups of water
  • 1 bunch spring onions
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 2 cans green, french beans
  • 2 green peppers
  • 1kg carrots
  • 2 chicken stock cubes
  • 1 Oxo cube
  • Chop all vegies into small pieces, combine all ingredients, add salt and pepper and stir well. Boil rapidly for 10 minutes, then simmer until vegies are tender. Add water if necessary, or to make a thinner soup.

This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry. Eat as much as you want whenever you want. The more you eat, the more you will lose. Fill a thermos if you are going out during the day.

For drinks – unsweetened juices, tea, coffee and water. Drink plenty of water.

    2. Hey

Embarking on my 2nd attempt after 12 months of the Soup diet, it does really work, you just need to learn after you finish to eat healthy and drink alcohol in moderation, I unfortunately along with my wife got lazy and ate more and more junk food and I consumed more alcohol on a regular basis, I lost 18 kgs (39 1/2 lbs) and since indulging gained 10 kgs (22 lbs)so here I go again, this time I am going to buy a sit up bench and tighten my abdominal muscles as well as not to loose the waist shape as quick.
